SEEKING THE LOST

by Lay-reader C.O. Olarewaju

Text
Mathew 18: 10-14 KJV
10 Take heed that ye despise not one of these little ones; for I say unto you, That in heaven their angels do always behold the face of my Father which is in heaven.
11 For the Son of man is come to save that which was lost.
12 How think ye? if a man have an hundred sheep, and one of them be gone astray, doth he not leave the ninety and nine, and goeth into the mountains, and seeketh that which is gone astray?
13 And if so be that he find it, verily I say unto you, he rejoiceth more of that sheep, than of the ninety and nine which went not astray.
14 Even so it is not the will of your Father which is in heaven, that one of these little ones should perish.

God has made provision for us as the lost and from the Garden of Eden, we have been lost when God chased man out of the garden, the man lost fellowship, The Man lost that relationship, The Man lost that identity which he had with God. God said let us make man in our own image, let him become one of us but when sin came, through the serpent we lost that identity. And from that point onward we have being referred to by divine definition as lost ones. Now the topic is seeking the lost, let us quickly look at the definition of those terms, we have two major terms in the theme which are; seeking and lost.
What is seeking? Seeking means the act of looking for and trying to get something.
Who is a seeker? A seeker is someone who is involved or engaged in the act of seeking. I pray Holy Spirit will give us understanding in Jesus name. When we lost this relationship, this identity in God, God made several attempt to find us, to find the human race, he brought us prophets, he brought us judges, our sins were forgiven by the shedding of the blood of animals but these weren’t enough for us to be found. And Jesus Christ came and offered himself so that you and I that have been lost will be found. The bible says that “…we have been bought with a price”. We that were not people before are now made people of his own; we that were lost are now been found and redeemed by the blood that was shed on Calvary.
Lost: Lost is something that cannot or is very difficult to be found.
But the lord Jesus came to find us, to seek us so that we won’t perish Mathew 18:14 says: “Even so it is not the will of your Father which is in heaven, that one of these little ones should perish.” It is not the will of God who made us in his own image that we should perish, and that is why he has found us through the blood of Jesus, through the death of Jesus that anyone who believes in Jesus and who accept him will not perish.
We as believers are to go out to seek for the lost sheep and bring them home. We must rise up as seekers and search for the lost souls; we must extend that love that God has shown unto us.

Qualities to be possessed to be a seeker
1. A seeker must know the way: a seeker must know Jesus.
2. A seeker must possess power, strength and zeal to look for what is lost. As we can see in Acts chapter 2

Who are the lost?
Generally, we consider unbelievers as the lost. We have the lost even in the church of God. Devil has blindfold people in the church that they don’t even know the truth some believed that they are doing the right thing but not.

Categories of the lost in the church
1. Lost but serving
2. Lost but are still coming

1. The lost but serving are those that think they are worker in the church but haven’t come to the point of repentance and also haven’t come to the point of encounter with God. They are yet to come to the stage of been sorry for their sins and deciding not to go back to their sinful ways. Isaiah 66: 1-3 KJV
“Thus saith the LORD, The heaven is my throne, and the earth is my footstool: where is the house that ye build unto me? and where is the place of my rest? 2 For all those things hath mine hand made, and all those things have been, saith the LORD: but to this man will I look, even to him that is poor and of a contrite spirit, and trembleth at my word . 3 He that killeth an ox is as if he slew a man; he that sacrificeth a lamb, as if he cut off a dog’s neck; he that offereth an oblation, as if he offered swine’s blood; he that burneth incense, as if he blessed an idol. Yea, they have chosen their own ways, and their soul delighteth in their abominations.”

2. Lost but are still coming are the unbelievers that have been lost in the world.

Let’s know that before we can seek the lost, we ourselves must have been found. I pray that we won’t fail God.

AS THE FATHER HAS SENT ME (…continuation)

AS THE FATHER HAS SENT ME (…continuation)

by Canon C.O Amusan

We have seen from this teaching that Jesus was first and foremost sent by the father to the world for a purpose and we know that the purpose is to reconcile men back to God because, originally mankind had a sweet fellowship with God, interact with God and enjoy the presence of God but when sin came that fellowship was destructed and cut off. Immediately after that, God had set in motion a redemptive plan by declaring to the serpent that the seeds of the woman is going to bruise your head and you will bruise his heels and so the motion started off and it went on until Jesus physically came into this world.

The bible says and the word became flesh and dwell among us and we beheld his glory as of the only begotten of the father full of grace and truth and this word live among us, he walked around cities, towns and villages and the bible says he was doing good healing all that were oppressed of the devil because God was with him and eventually before he went to the cross in the book of John 17:4he said I have glorified you on earth I have finished the work which you gave me and on the cross’ and in John 19:30When Jesus therefore had received the vinegar, he said, It is finished: and he bowed his head, and gave up the ghost’. he said it is finished and so he accomplished his own task or his own part of the covenant so he now commission us to go into the world to be his representative and ambassador to go and do what I did, live the way I lived, work the way I worked. Jesus did not sit down in a place, so he had say we should go and we are not expected to sit down in a place. He went about doing good healing those who were oppressed and he has given us the same commission, the bible says he call his disciples, he gave them authority and power to go and he said has you go heal the sick, raise the dead, cleanse the lepers, cast out demons, freely you have received freely you should give. So he has given us same mandate and he has given us the same authority and power he carries and he said we should go.

We have also seen what the mission of the church is and the mission of the church is to continue where Jesus stopped. Our mission and ministry is an extension of Jesus ministry, we are to carry on from where Jesus stopped, and so we must make sure we carry the gospel to every part of the world.

When Jesus was here on the earth it was only privileged to carry the gospel to Israel but when the disciples started, they started from Jerusalem, they got to Judea, they got to Samaria, even Paul by the grace of God got to some part of Asia, and some area of Europe, Rome. So we are to carry on from there and make sure that the gospel get to every part of the world and that was the mandate he mentioned in the book of Acts 1:8 But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judaea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth… that we are to minister from Jerusalem and all Judea and all Samaria and until the uttermost part of the earth. We will remember that when Jesus was leaving this world he said; and this gospel of the kingdom shall be preached to all the world and then the end of the world will come, so we cannot see the end of this world until the gospel has reached the end of the world. So there are so many people on this planet earth that has not heard about the gospel and they are waiting for you and I to do our part.
